John Ford Gets 19 Years.

A federal judge has sentenced former Tennessee lawmaker John Ford to 19 years in prison.

Ford, 66, was convicted in August of wire fraud and making false statements on official documents.

Today, he was sentenced to 14 years for the wire fraud convictions and 5 years on the other charges.

The judge did agree to run those sentences concurrently – meaning Ford will actually serve 14 years for those charges.

However, Ford already is serving a 5 1/2 year prison sentence for a separate bribery conviction stemming from the Tennessee Waltz bribery sting.

And, the judge ordered Ford to serve this latest sentence consecutively to the 5 ½ year sentence which he began serving in April.

Prosecutors said the Memphis Democrat received consulting fees from two TennCare contractors, OmniCare and Doral Dental, while serving on two Senate committees that oversaw TennCare.
